Emrgy allows customers to harvest electricity from slow-moving rivers and streams, locations previously thought useless for hydropower. While the power density may be lower in these areas, the applicable locations for installation are vast and potential energy generation is substantial. Together with the US DoE and US Navy, we developed a compact hydropower turbine that replaces conventional turbines 8 times larger -- allowing us to tap into sources like free-flowing rivers, municipal aqueducts, tidal streams and even wastewater pipes without expensive damming. The device produces energy at $0.03-0.05/kWh without considering any green incentives, one $40,000 turbine powers 7 average US homes, or almost 90 in India.
